Hopewell Valley Youth Orchestra

Picture
The Hopewell Valley Youth Orchestra is an ensemble created to help young musicians continue to develop their skills in a community environment.  Its mission is twofold:
  • To uphold the general mission statement of HV CAMP.
  • To expose musicians and audience members alike to musical genres including but not limited to popular culture (i.e. pop music, Broadway, classical, film, television, video games).  Original and modern works will be included.

The ensemble is under the direction of Sean Ryan.

Members are not required to audition for entrance into this ensemble.  All competent musicians age 9-18 years old are eligible to join.  Instrumentation is standard pops orchestra, including all standard orchestral woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings, plus rhythm section (guitar, piano, bass, drum set).

The ensemble rehearses select Sunday and Monday evenings beginning at 6:30pm in Hopewell Borough during the Summer season.  Specific information for the group is distributed in the form of a syllabus at the first rehearsal each season.

The cutoff for eligibility for this ensemble is determined by high school graduation.  A member who is 18 years old and is slated to or has received his/her high school diploma in a the calendar year is considered to be in his/her final year of eligibility for this group.
