Independent Study
Students do have the option of submitting a proposal for an independent and unique cluster. Proposals must be for the equivalent of two courses and explain why such an opportunity would be a viable option.
Two important items will need to be considered for such an independent study. First, it is entirely possible that a cluster already offered might include such topics and could be tailored in ways that would equate the independent study. Second, NJMI needs to ensure that instructors can offer the proper resources and knowledge on the subject.
Accelerated Study
NJMI is designed to allow students to take one course at a time so that students are not overloaded. However, students who have a desire or situation where taking more than one class at a time are welcome to inquire as to how this might be achieved.
Students should be prepared, however, that certain courses are only offered at certain times, which might create conflict in scheduling. An accelerated course of study may not be possible simply due to these technicalities, not due to a lack of desire.
